Valarie Renee Paasch, 39, passed away unexpectedly on September 3, 2026, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Born on June 2, 1987, in Richland Center, WI. Her life was filled with people who loved her deeply and who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Although her passing came far too soon, Valarie’s life was so much more than the circumstances surrounding her death. She was a person with hopes, dreams, struggles, laughter, love, and memories that will never be forgotten. Valarie was a loving mother to her children, Hunter Gerner (Jalissa Helt), Hayden Hess, and Harper Gillingham. Her children were an important part of her life, and the love between a mother and her children is a bond that will remain forever. Valarie is survived by her mother, Sheila and stepfather, Darrin Buchholtz, father, Brent and stepmother, Tammy Gillingham and stepmother, Rita Gillingham. Her stepparents held a special place in Valarie’s heart. They were there throughout different chapters of her life, offering their love, support, guidance, and a place to call family. The bonds they shared with Valarie went far beyond the word “step”—they were relationships built on love, memories, and a connection that will remain with them forever. Their loss is immeasurable, and they will carry her memory with them always. She is also survived by her brothers, Coty Gillingham (Aleesha), Bruce Buchholtz (Aliyah Ruhland), Holden Gillingham, and nephew Lyncoln Gillingham, along with extended family and many friends who will miss her dearly. Valarie was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents: Alan and Sharon (Camp) Sugden, Bill and Judy (Bailey) Hatfield and Karl Gillingham.  Valarie also shared a very special bond with her beloved dog, Macie. Macie loved Valarie unconditionally, offering her constant companionship, comfort, and a love that never judged and never wavered. Valarie faced struggles throughout her life, and sadly, those struggles ultimately took her from us far too soon. Her passing reminds us that behind every struggle is a person who is deeply loved. Valarie was so much more than the challenges she faced. She was a daughter, a mother, a sister, and a friend whose life mattered deeply to those who loved her. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Valarie’s many friends in the Wausau area who loved her, stood by her, shared memories with her, and brought laughter and kindness into her life. Your friendship meant more to Valarie than words can express. Thank you for being part of her journey Those who knew Valarie will remember her for the love she gave, the memories she created, and the moments that made her uniquely herself. Her memory will live on through her children, her parents and stepparents, her brothers, and everyone whose life she touched. Valarie will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5:00 - 8:00pm at the Pratt Memorial Chapel in Richland Center.
