Умер бывший президент Национальной ассоциации стрелков США Аллан Корс

Allan Cors, a former president of the National Rifle Association of America and the founding chairman of the Prince William-based Americans in Wartime Experience, died Monday. Americans in Wartime Experience announced Cors’ passing on Facebook Thursday morning. A native of Cincinnati born in 1936, Cors presided over the NRA from 2015-2017. “I had the pleasure of getting to know and working with past NRA President Allan Cors during his term of office early in my career at the National Rifle Association of America,” NRA Executive Vice President and CEO Doug Hamlin said in a post on the NRA’s Shooting Sports website. “Allan was a dashing figure who was articulate and well-spoken, a good listener, and highly informed and educated on Second Amendment issues. He was an enthusiast, collector, shooter and hunter—but mostly, he was a patriot. He loved this country, he loved his family and he loved the National Rifle Association of America. The nonprofit Americans in Wartime Experience, which honors the nation's veterans and service members, is well-known for its frequent Tank Farm open house in Field on Aden Road in Nokesville. The event invites the public to view and explore over 100 operational historic military vehicles, tactical trucks and tanks that are stored at the farm. “What began as Allan’s passion for collecting and preserving historic military vehicles grew into something much greater,” the organization wrote on Facebook. “As veterans came to the Tank Farm and shared their experiences, Allan came to realize that the vehicles were not the story—the men and women who served were. “That realization became the foundation of the Americans in Wartime Experience and Allan’s enduring mission: to honor those who served, preserve their stories, and ensure that future generations understand their service and sacrifice.” Remembrances poured in on social media Thursday. “He was one of the best men I ever worked for,” Devon Koch Pass wrote on the Facebook announcement. “I remember the twinkle in his eye early in the mornings right before we started Open House weekends, he lit up viewing all his tanks and vehicles out in the field. Allan will be missed …” “Allan was a good man with a passion to honor those who served,” commented Dennis Gill. “It is men like him who make this country great. He will be missed. Thank you Allan for blazing the trail and leading the way.” Americans in Wartime Experience has been planning an experiential museum in Dale City for over 15 years after securing a 70-acre site right off I-95 in 2010. The project is tied up in litigation, however, with Americans in Wartime suing the Hylton Foundation, the organization that donated the land, over contractual disputes.
