MADISON, Wis. (WKOW) — Wisconsin businesses can now register heavy vehicles under the state's Fleet license plate program starting Oct. 1. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles expanded the Fleet plate option to include heavy trucks, tractors and trailers. More than 12,000 automobiles and light trucks carried the Fleet plate last year. Businesses enroll through DMV's eMV Fleet, an online management portal. The expansion allows companies to manage their entire fleet in one place. "Wisconsin DMV is proud to continue to expand our eMV Fleet services and deliver to businesses a modern, simplified process to register and renew fleet cars, light trucks and heavies in Wisconsin," Wisconsin DMV Bureau of Vehicle Services Director David Albino said. "By participating in eMV Fleet they can reduce paperwork, save time and keep their fleet vehicles compliant." Once enrolled, businesses manage all vehicles through a centralized online dashboard. Customers can register and renew vehicles, order replacement fleet plates, receive renewal notifications electronically and pre-order registration stickers. Currently, automobiles and light trucks with a gross weight of 8,000 pounds or less are eligible for Fleet plates. Starting Oct. 1, non-individuals with 10 or more vehicles may qualify for a Wisconsin Fleet plate. Eligible heavy vehicles include trucks with gross weight between 8,001 and 54,000 pounds, truck tractors and road tractors with a gross weight up to 54,000 pounds and trailers with a gross weight up to 80,000 pounds.
