HUNTINGTON — Lita Lewis, a feature twirler at Marshall University, will represent the United States in the Adult A 2-Baton at the 2027 International Baton Twirling Federation (IBTF) Nations Cup in Liverpool next August. She qualified at a twirling competition in Iowa in July. Lewis says she’ll probably do the same routine she does for Marshall, but build on it with new tricks and skill variations. “I like the fast-paced lifestyle of baton twirling; you never do the same thing. Once you get to learn a routine and master it, and then you get to keep building on the fields that you have already learned,” she said. Lewis started twirling at 1 year old, so she’s been doing it for 20 years. “I will have plenty of hours put in with practices and hopefully be able to go to some more competitions to get routines on the floor and just get the mindset preparedness for the competition in England,” she said. Lewis is from Webster County, West Virginia. She can do a lot of tricks, even twirling four batons at the same time. “I’m most excited for getting to see a new place, being able to represent the United States and West Virginia over in England, and just all the opportunities,” she said.
