ROME, N.Y. -- Bartell Machinery Systems is expanding its production space as it continues to grow in several industries. The company, which has been in business for 86 years, works in the tire and rubber, wire and cable and oil and gas industries. Bartell Machinery Systems manufactures, designs, engineers and tests industrial machines that are used to make products like powerlines and car tires. Michael Stoots, environment health and safety facilities manager, said, “It’s a little hidden gem in Central New York. From our tire manufacturing; so, the tire beads on your car. You know, 80% chance that they came from a machine that left this facility. The wire machines are so vast I don’t even know where to begin with how many are out there in industry. From commercial to healthcare to the little wires that are in pacemakers.” Bartell Machinery Systems is a major supplier for the oil and gas industry and is expanding its production space by just over 22,000 square feet. The company is also seeing growth in all of its business areas. “When you look at industries expanding into 5G, eventually 6G, expansion in construction, expansion in fiber optic, data communication. Our machines span across all these different industries,” Patrick Morocco, president of Bartell Machinery Systems, said. The machines produced by Bartell often require advanced electronics, and the company also makes the components needed to house these technologies. Patrick Morocco said, “Programming, software, integration into machines. These are the technologies that really are in demand, particularly for the types of machines that we manufacture.” Bartell Machinery Systems currently has about 126 employees and is looking to hire 10 to 15 mechanical and electrical engineers as well as assemblers. “We’re about enabling our manufacturers to build more efficiently, higher quality, better product, also longevity of the machinery systems that we design and service to make it easier to operate for the customer,” Morocco said. The expansion project is expected to be completed by April of next year.
