Компания Armata Pharmaceuticals опубликовала структурную карту бактериофага для лечения инфекций Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Armata Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (ARMP), announced a new publication in the Journal of Molecular Biology providing structural insights into Ar-KM, a phiKMV-like bacteriophage targeting Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
The study used cryo-electron microscopy, proteomics and bioinformatics to develop an integrative structural atlas of Ar-KM and generate atomic models for 11 structural proteins at near-atomic resolution.
The research provided insights into how Ar-KM maintains its genome in a securely packaged state before infection and undergoes coordinated structural changes to release and deliver its genetic material into bacterial cells.
Researchers also identified enzymatic activity that may help the phage penetrate the bacterial cell envelope, as well as a previously unrecognized protein involved in genome delivery.
AP-PA02 Program Update
Ar-KM is the phage underlying Armata's AP-PA02 program, an inhaled bacteriophage product candidate targeting chronic pulmonary P. aeruginosa infections.
AP-PA02 has completed Phase 2 clinical studies in patients with cystic fibrosis and non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.
Armata said the structural biology findings could improve understanding of phage stability, infectivity and mechanisms of action, supporting the rational development of next-generation antibacterial therapies.
The company is also extending its structural biology work to cryo-EM studies of its proprietary Staphylococcus aureus phages, broadening the application of its phage purification and structural characterization capabilities across its pipeline.
Armata is developing natural and synthetic bacteriophage candidates targeting P. aeruginosa, S. aureus and other difficult-to-treat bacterial pathogens, supported by in-house phage-specific cGMP manufacturing capabilities.
ARMP has traded between $2.76 and $16.34 over the last year. The stock closed Wednesday's trade at $5.53, up 4.73%.
In the pre-market, ARMP is down 2.35% at $5.40.
