Archie Alemania says Rita Daniela case put showbiz career on hold MANILA, Philippines — Actor Archie Alemania admitted that his showbiz career has been put on hold since the controversy involving actress-singer Rita Daniela, saying he has not had a taping or acting job since the issue surfaced. Alemania opened up about the impact of the case during an interview with talent manager-content creator Ogie Diaz on his YouTube channel. Diaz asked the actor if he considered the controversy a major blow to his career. “Would you consider na big blow sa career mo, kung bakit biglang tumamlay ang career mo pagkatapos ng isyu sa inyo ni Rita Daniela?” Diaz asked. “Oo naman. Siyempre naman. Simula nang mangyari ‘yun, ’yung isyu na ’yon, wala na akong taping. Wala na akong trabaho. So total stop lahat. Until now,” Alemania said. He also recalled an instance when a director from GMA Network wanted to cast him in a project, but the opportunity did not push through after staff members reportedly raised concerns about his ongoing legal case. “May isang direktor na kumukuha sa akin sa isang network, sa GMA, at ang sabi ng direktor e, ang sabi raw ng staff e may kaso pa raw ako,” he said. Alemania said he has yet to approach other networks in search of acting opportunities. Despite the setback, the actor has found work outside showbiz. He currently works with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), an attached agency of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The career setback came amid the legal proceedings involving Alemania and Daniela. In October 2024, Daniela filed an acts of lasciviousness complaint against Alemania under Article 336 of the Revised Penal Code. In October 2025, the Bacoor court found Alemania guilty of acts of lasciviousness and sentenced him to an indeterminate prison term of one month and one day to one year and one day. He was also ordered to pay Daniela P20,000 in civil indemnity and P20,000 in moral damages. Alemania has maintained his position in the case and appealed the ruling. As of his interview with Diaz, Alemania said he remains hopeful that he will eventually be able to return to the entertainment industry.
