Отель St. James's Club в Антигуа предлагает все включенный отдых на 100-акровом полуострове с двумя пляжами и кортами для пиклеболла

Antigua Has an All-Inclusive on a 100-Acre Peninsula With Two Beaches, Pickleball and a Watersports Playground At St. James’s Club & Villas in Antigua, two beaches, a huge menu of included activities and a 100-acre peninsula make this one of the Caribbean’s most complete all-inclusive vacations. St. James’s Club & Villas has something that changes the entire experience of an all-inclusive resort: its own 100-acre peninsula on the southeastern coast of Antigua, with Coco’s Beach on one side and Mamora Bay Beach on the other. Then you add three pickleball courts, four tennis courts, six swimming pools, included watersports, rooms, suites and villas, and a location close to English Harbour — and you begin to understand why we keep coming back here. We’ve stayed at St. James’s Club multiple times over the years, and its appeal has always been its sheer completeness. This is one of those rare Caribbean all-inclusives where a couple, a family with kids, a group of friends and an active traveler can all have very different vacations at the same resort. That’s increasingly important in Antigua, an island with one of the Caribbean’s deepest collections of all-inclusive resorts. The category has expanded dramatically, and guests increasingly expect more than a beach and a buffet: they want activities, different room types, good dining choices and enough variety to fill a week without having to manufacture an itinerary. St. James’s Club has had that formula for a long time, and recent upgrades to accommodations including its Beachfront Rooms and Royal Suites have added another reason to take a fresh look at the resort. Two Beaches That Give You Two Different Vacations The headline feature is the geography. St. James’s Club occupies a peninsula, which gives the resort two distinct waterfront experiences. On one side is Coco’s Beach, the more traditional white-sand Caribbean beach; on the other is Mamora Bay, a protected bay that has long been one of our favorite corners of the property. CJ has stayed here multiple times, and the difference between the two beaches is not a marketing distinction. They really do give you a choice depending on what you feel like doing that day. Mamora Bay is where the resort’s watersports offering comes into its own. You can take out a Hobie Cat, a kayak, a paddleboard or a pedal boat, with snorkeling and other non-motorized watersports part of the all-inclusive experience. Coco’s gives you the other side of the Antigua beach vacation, with Beachfront Rooms set just steps from the sand. Those rooms are 540 square feet, according to the resort, with either a king or two queen beds and private outdoor space. It’s one of the reasons the peninsula is more than a pretty setting. The geography actually expands what you can do during a stay. We wrote about that same quality after one of our previous visits to St. James’s Club and Mamora Bay, when the resort’s watersports and two-beach experience stood out as the defining features of the property. The All-Inclusive Where You Can Actually Stay Active Then there’s pickleball. St. James’s Club has three dedicated pickleball courts, along with four tennis courts, with night play available. That gives the resort a surprisingly strong racquet-sports component, particularly for a Caribbean property where the beaches could easily be the entire attraction. The courts are part of a broader activity offering that is one of the resort’s biggest strengths. There’s a 24-hour fitness center, a spa, beach volleyball and the watersports operation at Mamora Bay, along with the pools and daily resort activities. That variety changes a weeklong stay. One person can be on a paddleboard while someone else is playing pickleball; the kids can spend the afternoon at the pool while someone else heads to the spa. You can spend one day doing almost nothing on Coco’s Beach and make the next one entirely about activities. That flexibility is the real luxury here. It’s also why we’ve long considered St. James’s Club one of Antigua’s most versatile all-inclusive resorts. There are larger and newer resorts in the Caribbean, but very few have this combination of acreage, beach choice and built-in recreation. There’s Enough Space to Find Your Own Version of the Resort The 100-acre footprint is important because St. James’s Club has a lot going on. There are six swimming pools spread around the property, along with five restaurants plus a beach grill, seven bars and a coffee shop. The accommodations range from traditional Club and Premium Rooms to Beachfront Rooms, Junior Suites, Royal Suites and multi-bedroom villas. CJ has found that the property can feel markedly different depending on where you stay. If proximity to the sand is the priority, the Beachfront Rooms put Coco’s Beach at the center of the trip. Premium Rooms are larger hotel-style accommodations at 500 square feet, while the ground-floor Club Rooms are 425 square feet and have garden views. The Royal Suites create a more couples-oriented option, with an adults-only setting overlooking Mamora Bay. The recently reimagined suites are split-level accommodations with private terraces, and Royal Suite guests have access to two dedicated adults-only pools. Then there are the villas, which are particularly useful if this is a multigenerational Antigua vacation or you’re coming with a larger family. It means choosing St. James’s Club isn’t really one accommodation decision. You can choose the section of the resort that best matches the trip. Why This Kind of All-Inclusive Is So Appealing Right Now The Caribbean all-inclusive has been evolving quickly, with more luxury brands entering the category and existing resorts adding more activities, restaurants and higher-end accommodations. But there’s another side to that growth: travelers increasingly want one resort that can solve several vacation problems at once. That is especially true for families and multigenerational groups. The challenge is finding somewhere that can entertain children without feeling like a children’s resort, give active guests enough to do and still offer quiet beach time and couples-friendly accommodations. St. James’s Club has been built around that mix for years. The resort has also continued to update the product. CJ reported on a significant round of improvements that included a new 3,700-square-foot fitness center, renovated waterfront spaces and improvements to the tennis facilities in our earlier report on changes at St. James’s Club. More recently, the Beachfront Rooms and Royal Suites have been renovated, giving two of the resort’s most compelling accommodation categories a newer look. And Then There’s the Location A sprawling all-inclusive can sometimes leave you feeling disconnected from the destination. St. James’s Club has an advantage here: English Harbour is close enough to make leaving the resort extremely easy. The resort says the trip from Antigua’s airport is about 30 minutes, while English Harbour is only a short drive away. CJ has made that drive repeatedly, and having one of Antigua’s most interesting areas nearby makes a meaningful difference on a longer stay. That puts Nelson’s Dockyard, the marinas of English Harbour and Falmouth Harbour, restaurants and the wider historic district within easy reach. You can have an all-inclusive base without making the entire trip about the resort. That’s an especially good combination in Antigua, where exploring is part of the appeal. This is an island where a drive can take you from a beach to a historic harbor to a hilltop lookout in the same afternoon. And if you’re deciding where St. James’s Club fits within Antigua’s increasingly varied resort scene, our recent guide to Antigua hotels and expanded airlift looks at several different ways to stay on the island. Which St. James’s Club Vacation Is Right for You? If you’re coming primarily for the beach, we’d start with a Beachfront Room and Coco’s Beach. If watersports are a major part of the trip, Mamora Bay is the reason to choose this resort. Couples should look closely at the Royal Suites, particularly if you want the activity and restaurant choices of a large all-inclusive but prefer an adults-only home base. Families get perhaps the broadest benefit from the resort. There are enough pools, beaches and activities that everyone can separate during the day and regroup for dinner without needing to leave the property. And if you’re the person who gets restless after two consecutive days in a beach chair, this may be the most natural fit of all. Pickleball, tennis, sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling and the gym can fill an entire trip before you even start exploring Antigua. There are some additional charges to know about: the resort lists a nightly resort fee and Antigua’s statutory tourism levy, both payable locally, so check the current amounts for your travel dates before booking. Recent rates have been running from roughly the high-$400s per night for two adults on select September dates, including taxes and fees, based on a rate check this week; as always with Caribbean resorts, pricing changes considerably by room category and season. But the real reason to choose St. James’s Club isn’t a single amenity. It’s that there are so many different ways to spend the same Antigua vacation. Two beaches. A protected bay filled with watersports. Pickleball and tennis. Six pools. A broad range of accommodations. English Harbour just down the road. On an island famous for its beaches, St. James’s Club gives you two of them without leaving your resort — and then gives you plenty of reasons to put down the beach chair.
