Brought to life by the creative talents of writer Jeremy Melloul (Dungeon Masters Guild) and artist Adam Seats, Adventure Time Halloween Special follows Finn and Jake after they fail to read the fine print on a contract when signing up for a quest from the Adventurer's Guild. Their mistake lands them in a mysterious new dungeon, where they are transformed into some of its monstrous inhabitants. Furthermore, the official synopsis for the special teases that these new forms will play a major role in the story: "Stuck in strange bodies, fighting familiar faces, and attempting to get to the bottom of this mysterious place, can our dynamic duo best this unearthly dungeon or will they fall victim to the monsters within... and within themselves?" While ONI Press has yet to reveal an in-story look at Finn and Jake's new forms, a variant cover by artist Violet Tobacco (see below) gives readers their first look at what will likely be the duo's transformed appearances in the special. Typically, the duo maintains their iconic, familiar designs, making this a notable departure from the status quo. As previously mentioned, fans have likely already gotten their first look at these new appearances thanks to Violet Tobacco's variant cover. The Adventure Time Halloween Special will be a 48-page, oversized issue available at local comic shops and digitally for $7.99. That variant cover depicts Finn in a patchwork version of his signature outfit, complete with an eyepatch and a hook replacing one of his hands, transforming him into a pirate. Meanwhile, Jake trades his traditional yellow coloring for an eerie blue look, tops it off with a witch's hat, and rides onto the scene on a broom, making it clear he's embracing a full witch-inspired makeover. Whether these are the final in-story redesigns remains to be seen, but either way, fans can expect to see Finn and Jake like never before when this Adventure Time special arrives.
