В лагере Wisconsin Lions Camp прошли учения по реагированию на стрельбы

Active shooter training held at Wisconsin Lions Camp ROSHOLT, Wis. (WSAW) - Local law enforcement, fire crews, EMS and Wisconsin Lions Camp staff in Rosholt took part in hands-on training Wednesday on how to respond to an active shooter. The training at the camp consisted of several scenarios to simulate how crews would react to, eliminate and recover after a threat. The camp’s director said the training allows staff and crews to implement their training and camp procedures during a high-stress situation. “Risk management is not fun, but it’s needed. So, drills like this and opportunities like this you just don’t pass up. And when they ask can we do this, I said yes. And then I thought, oh boy, this is going to be uncomfortable, but we’re learning, which is really exciting,” said Andrea Yenter, camp director at the Wisconsin Lions Camp. Staff and crews said the goal is to improve communication between the agencies, rapid medical intervention and overall public safety. Now in its 12th year, instructors say they’re always looking at new ways to train. “Every year we try to be creative about different locations we can train at to cover different challenges,” Lt. Joe Johnson with the Stevens Point Police Department said. “We’ve spent a lot of time working in businesses and our school district, which has been fantastic. However, we felt we needed to do a space that’s maybe a little more open.” Johnson said he’s grateful Portage County has these training days, because active shooter situations are not going away.
