В Ломпоке откроется ретроспективная выставка работ художника Алана Фримена

Inside the Grossman Gallery at the Lompoc Public Library, a retrospective show will honor the life of Alan Freeman. The painter, who passed away in March last year, was one of the founding members of The Lompoc Ten. The display of Freeman’s work will be up from Sept. 2 to 29. Visit 501 E. North Ave. during regular library hours, Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. A reception is scheduled for Sept. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. “Over the years, Freeman’s backyard studio in Lompoc became filled to the brim with both traditional and expressionist pieces,” according to press materials. “In many ways he can be compared to Van Gogh, with his high-key color harmony and endless sense of exploration.” Freeman was raised in Santa Barbara and served in the Vietnam War before choosing the life of an artist, according to the gallery. The surfer, bicyclist, and hiker, was inspired by nature and outdoor activities. Many of his works were quite large, too. “[Freeman] not only left behind his loving wife, Carla, a legacy of compassion, courage, and humor,” the gallery stated, “but also a tremendous output of a lifetime of art.” For more information, call the library at (805) 875-8775.
