This book gives a detailed insight into the implementation of nanotechnology in plant biotechnology studies. The field of plant biotechnology deals with plant conservation, propagation, improvement, and sustainable utilization through advanced techniques like plant tissue culture and genetic engineering. While different strategies of plant tissue culture techniques have been long utilized for plant propagation and improvement, there is a need for continuous upgradation and implementation of novel techniques in a plant tissue culture system. This is essential to cater to the growing demand for plant-based products in global market, dwindling natural plant populations, shrinking of land for plant growth, and a contrasting rise in dependence on plants for sustenance of life. This has led to exploring nanotechnological interventions in plant biotechnology by incorporating nanoparticles in a plant tissue culture system, thereby enhancing plant growth, development, hardening, metabolite synthesis, genetic transformation, etc., under in vitro conditions. The book covers a range of topics related to nanoparticle utilization in plant propagation and improvement systems, which will be of interest to plant biotechnologists and botanists. Those working in the field of chemistry and phytochemistry will find special sections of biosynthesis of different nanoparticles for use in plant-based research, their use in enhancing bioactive production, and phytotoxicity. Further, molecular biologists will find topics related to genetic transformation and stress tolerance in plants very useful.

About the editors
Professor Azamal Husen is Eminent Academic and Researcher whose career spans over two decades of outstanding contributions to teaching, research, and scientific leadership. His academic journey has been marked by distinction and international engagement, having served as Full Professor and Head of the Department of Biology at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia, and Foreign Delegate at Wolaita Sodo University, Ethiopia. In India, he is currently Adjunct Professor at Graphic Era University and has previously served as Professor at Sankalchand Patel University and Visiting Faculty at several reputed Indian institutions, including the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun. His research has been supported by several prestigious national and international organizations, such as the World Bank, National Agricultural Technology Project, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. He is Fellow of the Plantae Group under the American Society of Plant Biologists.
Dr. Manu Pant is serving as Full Professor and Head of the Department of Biosciences at Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. She completed her master’s degree from Banasthali Vidyapith in Rajasthan, India, and her doctorate from HNB Garhwal University in Srinagar, India. She has extensive experience in the field of plant sciences, having worked as Research Fellow at the Forest Research Institute and the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education on nationally funded projects. Her research work on different plant species has been funded by the state governments, earning her recognition and awards at the national level. She has several peer-reviewed international papers to her credit, published patents, and delivered numerous oral and poster presentations, keynote addresses, and invited talks at national and international scientific events. She has also edited four books in the series Exploring Medicinal Plants (Taylor & Francis Group, USA).
