Новая книга Дика Кэмпбелла рассказывает о судьбе трех поколений семьи, переехавшей из Кентукки в Огайо после Второй мировой войны

Recent Release, "A Promise From Johni," from Page Publishing Author Dick Campbell, Follows a Kentucky Family Pursuing the American Dream in Post-War Ohio Crossville, TN, August 27, 2026 --(PR.com)-- Dick Campbell has completed a new book, "A Promise From Johni" that chronicles three generations of patriotic kinfolk from Paintsville, Kentucky, whose desire for better employment and improved living standards prompted them to relocate to the Dayton, Ohio area following World War II. The narrative centers on Johni, the youngest member of the third generation, whose family settled on a modest farm in Jefferson Township near Drexel: a rough industrial community just beyond Dayton's western limits. Populated largely by migrants from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, this setting becomes the backdrop for an authentic portrait of working-class American life during a transformative era. Campbell draws from his own formative years spent in the Drexel area, lending the narrative an intimate authenticity that could only emerge from lived experience. After high school, he served in the Navy with the dual purpose of protecting his nation and escaping the hardscrabble circumstances of his childhood. His educational journey continued at the University of Dayton, where he earned both bachelor's and master's degrees. When the Vietnam War intensified in 1964, Campbell made the consequential decision to join the Special Forces as a commissioned officer rather than return to active duty in a lower rank. Though he was never deployed overseas, Campbell's military service and subsequent career at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base shaped his worldview and deepened his understanding of the American character. "A Promise From Johni" explores themes of resilience, family loyalty, and the pursuit of stability amid economic transition. Readers will discover how ordinary people navigated extraordinary circumstances, building lives of dignity through determination and sacrifice. Campbell's novel, grounded in factual events, captures the hopes and struggles of communities often overlooked in American literature. The result is an engrossing account that honors the sacrifices of working families while revealing the human dimensions behind historical change. "I have wanted to tell this story since 1965, and writing it has reconnected me with cherished memories of my youth," said Campbell. "This book is a tribute to the resilient people who shaped my life and the communities that defined an era." Published by Page Publishing, Dick Campbell's compelling work provides readers with a nuanced portrait of post-war American life rarely found in contemporary fiction. This novel will resonate with anyone who values family history and the untold stories of ordinary Americans.
