Lonnie Ingram took those items and turned them into serious art, from really simple pieces that take just a few minutes to make to incredibly intricate designs. Advertisement "I'm Lonnie. People look at what I do like it's a little magic, so they call it 'Lonnie's tricks,' so 'Lonnetrix,'" Ingram told WBAL-TV 11 News. Ingram said he can make anything out of wire. "I make bugs. I make animals. I make people. I make buildings and scenes," Ingram told WBAL-TV 11 News. From action figures to wells with running water and a working clock based on a scene from "Three Blind Mice," the pieces can take Ingram a few minutes to a few hours to make, while sculptures can take a week or a month. It all started with making his own toys. "When I was 6 years old, I was watching television and wanting things that didn't exist, but the only material I had in the house to work with was a drawer full of trash bag and bread twist ties. So, I used what I had to create what I wanted," Ingram told WBAL-TV 11 News. Now, it has been more than 35 years and Ingram wants people to know there's no limit to imagination. He starts with a very thin wire, like a twist tie that you get from your bread bags or trash bags. "A lot of items are made from recycled materials to make sure items would be available to just anyone," Ingram told WBAL-TV 11 News. He even travels across the country to work on art with children and adults. "(I'm) teaching them to, I guess, see themselves. What makes you happy? What makes you smile? And (I'm) getting them to recreate that in reality," Ingram told WBAL-TV 11 News. He even has a ton of pieces made from pipe cleaners, which he said helps children and older adults to make wire art without needing gloves or tools.
