Мама из Абердин создала умный браслет InfoMate для помощи родителям в экстренных ситуациях

Aberdeen mom creates InfoMate wristband to help parents in emergencies A traumatic experience inspired action from a Harford County mother who developed a wristband to give parents peace of mind in case of an emergency. Shari Bailey will never forget the day in 2020 when her daughter, Laila, wandered out of her home. "That was probably one of the scariest days of my life," Bailey told WBAL-TV 11 News. Laila, who has Jacobsen syndrome and autism, was 6 years old at the time and was with another caretaker. "At the time, developmentally, she was about 17 months, and she is nonverbal. So, that just added on top of the fear because if someone were to find her, they still wouldn't know who she is, how to return her home," Bailey told WBAL-TV 11 News. Although Bailey and her husband found Laila safely, the experience motivated them to act. They successfully pushed for the passage of the Laila's Elopement Awareness and Dissemination (LEAD) Act this year. The statute establishes statewide law enforcement training and search tactics for finding individuals with autism or dementia who wander off. The Baileys also developed the InfoMate wristband under their company, Zigglebee. The water-resistant band features a QR code that connects to a patent-pending software platform where families can create custom, secure authentication profiles with emergency contact information. If a child wanders or gets lost, someone can scan the QR code to access critical details. "When it gets scanned, I get the alerts of the location, date, and time of the scan, and the person gets the information that's helpful in the mode of crisis," Bailey told WBAL-TV 11 News. The wristbands also include a section for AirTags and Moto Tags, allowing families to locate the band at any time. "The beauty of this is, in an emergency, what happens is children tend to freeze and not remember information. This is information at fingertips that trusted adults can utilize," Bailey told WBAL-TV 11 News. "In an emergency, what happens is children tend to freeze and not remember information." The Baileys partnered with Walmart as the exclusive retailer for the wristbands, which sell for $39 with a $12 monthly subscription for the ongoing digital services. Bailey said the peace of mind that comes with the wristbands is priceless. "I always look back to that day where Laila eloped," Bailey told WBAL-TV 11 News. "How would this have been useful? With the location tag in it, I would've been able to quickly go to (the) 'Find My' (app) and locate her location. The other part of it is if someone were to come up on her and take a scan of the QR code, they could quickly see she is nonverbal, she has Jacobsen syndrome and autism, and to call mom." From the sale of each wristband, $10 goes toward the family's nonprofit, Laila's Gift, which funds programming for people with special needs and their families.
