For most print buyers, excellence is judged by sharp images, vibrant colours and impeccable finishing. Yet some of the most critical decisions in manufacturing remain invisible long after a job leaves the press.
It is this hidden layer of production that Super Bond Adhesives wants the industry to recognise as it reaffirms its support to the PrintWeek Awards 2026 as an associate partner.
“For us, this partnership with the PrintWeek Awards is very natural,” says Priyank Agarwal, managing director of Super Bond Adhesives. “PrintWeek has always been a strong voice of the industry, and we share the same belief, recognising and celebrating excellence across printers, binders and converters.”
According to Agarwal, the partnership reflects the company’s desire to celebrate the people who quietly improve manufacturing standards every day while supporting the industry’s continued evolution.
The unseen decisions
Agarwal believes award-winning work is often determined by choices that never appear in the finished product. “In reality, award-winning work often depends on decisions that are never seen,” he says. “Adhesives, substrates and process choices quietly determine whether a job performs consistently or fails under pressure.”
He explains that the correct adhesive can influence everything from binding strength and finish quality to machine runnability and production consistency.
For many years, adhesives were regarded simply as consumables. Today, Agarwal argues, they have become engineering materials that contribute directly to manufacturing performance.
Bonding to performance
“Adhesives are no longer just bonding materials. They are performance enablers,” Agarwal says.
As presses become faster and substrates become more diverse, converters increasingly evaluate complete production systems rather than individual materials.
That evolution has driven Super Bond to develop products suited to different machine speeds, substrate combinations and end-use applications.
Among these is the company’s polyolefin-based adhesive technology, positioned as an alternative to conventional EVA and PUR systems for selected applications. The adhesive operates across a wide temperature range, supports high-GSM bookbinding without stitching and runs on conventional hot-melt equipment, making adoption easier for printers and bookbinders.
Alongside this, Super Bond continues to supply its established bookbinding grades for educational and commercial publishing, as well as the Galaxy range for mono cartons, pharmaceutical cartons and FMCG packaging.
Collaboration drives consistency
According to Agarwal, the industry’s biggest gains now come from collaboration rather than individual products. “Success depends on how well the entire ecosystem works together,” he says.
Whether working alongside machine manufacturers, bookbinders or packaging converters, alignment between equipment, substrates, adhesives and production processes has become increasingly important as machine speeds increase and sustainability expectations continue to grow.
He emphasises that material suppliers are becoming active participants in production optimisation rather than simply vendors of consumables.
Looking beyond the visible
Despite this transformation, Agarwal believes materials continue to receive less attention than they deserve. “Everyone sees the print quality, the finish and the packaging, but very few look at what holds it all together,” he says. “Materials play a huge role in productivity, durability and sustainability, and they deserve greater recognition in industry conversations.”
Looking ahead to the PrintWeek Awards, Agarwal encourages participants to remember that excellence is often built on invisible details.
“My simple message is: focus on the details that are not visible,” he says. “The difference between a good job and a great one often lies in consistency, process control and the right material choices. That’s where companies like Super Bond Adhesives aim to add value every single day.”
