Компания Stuckey's закрывает завод в Джефферсон-каунти, но сохраняет бизнес и переносит производство

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ga. — A multi-generation Georgia business is closing a production facility, but the company’s leadership says it’s not the end of the line. Stephanie Stuckey, the company’s Chief Growth Officer, said they’re remaining in business even with the closure, and that Stuckey’s will still sell their pecan snacks and candies to retail partners. Speaking with Channel 2 Action News, Stuckey said the business decision does not impact a large group, only about 25 employees are being laid off due to the closure. Stuckey said the actual numbers contradict the reporting featured in other recent coverage of the closure, which reported at least three-times as many staff impacts. Some of the challenges Stuckey’s has faced include “rising costs, tariffs, higher fuel prices and the lasting impacts of Hurricane Helene, which devastated much of our state’s pecan crop.” “After careful and prayerful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to close our manufacturing and distribution operations in Wrens,” Stuckey’s said on Friday. In a series of comments on the announcement, Stuckey’s said the company’s gift shop would remain open and their operations for production are being transferred to other facilities, including a longtime partner located in Garfield, Ga. While production of brittle, Hunkey Doreys and chocolate gophers will move, Stuckey’s will still sell pecan snacks and candies at the store. As far as the plant closure, a Stuckey’s representative told Channel 2 Action News that the company had initially laid off 20 staff on Aug. 17, but eight of them “graciously agreed to stay for a number of weeks to assist with the transition.” Stuckey’s also thanked the community for its support. “For nearly 90 years, generations of customers have welcomed Stuckey’s into their family road trips, vacations, holidays, and traditions. We are enormously grateful for that loyalty,” the company said. “We ask for your prayers and support as we make this transition. Thank you for believing in Stuckey’s and for supporting a Georgia brand that we hope will remain part of the American road trip for many years to come.” [SIGN UP: WSB-TV Daily Headlines Newsletter] ©2026 Cox Media Group
