Художница из Хьюстона исполнила просьбу фанатов и вырезала из дыни образ певицы La Diosa

A Cuban artist based in Houston set out to pay tribute to Flor de Cuba by carving her likeness into a melon. However, the result sparked a wave of laughter on TikTok, as many comments noted the sculpture bore a closer resemblance to La Diosa. What began as an emotional gesture quickly turned into one of the most entertaining videos among the Cuban exile community in recent weeks. The account @arteysabor_houston, known for its 3D cakes and fruit displays for events, shared the initial video with a motivational monologue dedicated to the influencer from Holguín: "Flor de Cuba, hated by many and loved by others... turning every criticism into strength." The video garnered nearly 48,400 views, but the comments section took an unexpected turn. "She got it wrong because she made La Diosa," a user commented. "It looks more like La Diosa than Flor," another pointed out. The consensus was unanimous. Rather than ignoring the humor, the artist embraced the challenge with a level of honesty that the audience appreciated. "It looks more like La Diosa. That was the most repeated comment on the melon sculpture I made of Flor de Cuba, so I'm fulfilling your wish and now I'm going to recreate La Diosa because they have nothing to do with each other and look nothing alike," she explained at the beginning of the second video, titled "Recreating La Diosa of Cuba in a Melon." The outcome was explosive. The new video surpassed 367,200 views, amassing 12,500 likes and nearly a thousand shares, becoming the most viral content on the account. The comments flooded in with humor and enthusiasm. The most liked comment, with 515 reactions, came from a user who attached an image of the Muppets' monster Sweetums with the text: "I was scared of him as a child, now you reminded me." The runner-up, with 420 likes, read: "Girl, you're going to get sued haha." Another person noted: "By the 12th second, it's La Diosa." And someone added: "As soon as you started making the mouth, I knew it was La Diosa." Creative comparisons weren't lacking. One user, with 54 likes, confessed: "I liked it, but I see more resemblance to the tree from Pocahontas." Another came to the artist's defense with impeccable logic: "Folks, it's a melon, the art is present, it's about finding a similarity, not making an exact portrait." Not all comments were jokes; several followers defended the creator's talent. "She has won numerous awards in artistic decoration and participated in the presidents' summit as a decorator," someone wrote in the comments. The account already had a viral precedent: in July 2025, she carved the face of singer Oniel Bebeshito into a watermelon as a tribute during his concert in Houston. Flor de Cuba, who arrived in the U.S. with just $200 and became one of the top sellers on TikTok Shop globally, and La Diosa, an urban singer known for her unfiltered personality, are two of the most recognized figures of the Cuban diaspora.
