Певица Лиуба Мариа Хевия посетила могилу Пабло Миланеса в Мадриде

Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia recently visited the grave of Pablo Milanés at Las Rozas Cemetery in Madrid. This personal tribute was a spiritual necessity for her, unfulfilled since the legendary troubadour passed away in November 2022. While recording her latest album at the nearby Cezanne Studios, Hevia found the opportunity to pay her respects to Milanés, whose final resting place was just a short distance away. The proximity allowed her to finally address an emotional debt she felt since Milanés's passing at the age of 79, which left her unable to say goodbye. "As I was about to finish recording my new album at Cezanne Studios, close to Las Rozas Cemetery, I couldn't leave without visiting the resting place of one of Cuba's greatest composers and performers. I wanted to thank him once more for his legacy and bid him the farewell I couldn't offer when he departed—better said, when he ceased to be physically present—for his work and love transcend life itself," Hevia shared on social media. She was accompanied by Javier Monteverde and Mayda Bustamante during this significant moment, publicly expressing her gratitude: "Thank you, Javier Monteverde and Mayda Bustamante, for joining me in fulfilling this spiritual need. Beyond memories and photos of Pablo, which I've looked at often during these days at Cezanne Studios, your presence meant a lot." Deep Connections and Artistic Legacy The relationship between Hevia and Milanés was profound and longstanding. Born in Havana in 1964, Hevia joined the New Cuban Trova movement in 1982 and considers the troubadour one of her major influences. The Pablo Milanés Foundation played a crucial role in the production of her debut album, "Coloreando la Esperanza," released in 1993, marking a direct artistic and emotional bond between them. Hevia has participated in several posthumous tributes to Milanés, including an event at Casa de América on the first anniversary of his death. She reminisced about learning to play the guitar with songs by Pablo and Silvio Rodríguez. Milanés, co-founder of the New Cuban Trova alongside Silvio and Noel Nicola, produced over 40 solo albums with songs that became staples of Spanish-language music, such as "Yolanda," "Para vivir," and "El breve espacio en que no estás." In his later years, he was notably critical of the Cuban regime. He was honored with the Latin Grammy for Musical Excellence and Cuba's National Music Award. He now rests in Las Rozas, where he was laid to rest in a private family ceremony. Hevia's visit to his grave underscores a long-standing friendship and connection, adding to the numerous tributes paid by artists across the Spanish-speaking world. This wave of recognition continues nearly four years after Milanés's passing. Remembering Pablo Milanés and His Impact Who is Liuba María Hevia?
