Musician and broadcaster Jools Holland has shared some of the highlights as he visited Herefordshire as part of his latest tour.
Holland took to Facebook after back-to-back performances in Hereford and Chepstow, thanking fans who attended the shows and revealing some of the sights he enjoyed during his time in the area.
The pianist and bandleader, who performed with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra at The Amp at The Courtyard in Hereford on August 30 before appearing at Chepstow Castle the following evening, posted: “Thanks to everyone who came to Chepstow Castle and Hereford.
“We saw some lovely sights, including a medieval dog on a knight's tomb in the cathedral.”
The post included a photograph of a tomb in Hereford Cathedral belonging to Sir Richard Pembridge, a 14th-century soldier and one of the earliest Knights of the Garter.
His alabaster effigy famously features a small dog resting at his feet, a detail that has intrigued visitors for generations.
Holland also highlighted another stop in the city, writing: “Nice to find a ley line theorist's house in Hereford!”
The remark appears to reference Harley Close, the former home of Alfred Watkins, the Hereford-born businessman, photographer and amateur archaeologist who developed the theory of ley lines after studying alignments across the county's landscape in the early 20th century.
The star's travels also took him to Ross-on-Wye, where he revisited a location connected to his own history in the town.
“Lastly, we stopped in Ross-on-Wye to look for the Dennis Potter memorial wall, which I opened in 1997 when we played the ‘Festival' there,” he wrote.

The memorial wall, dedicated to acclaimed television dramatist Dennis Potter, stands outside Ross-on-Wye Swimming Pool and was created by staff and pupils from the town's John Kyrle High School.
Holland, best known as the host of BBC music programme Later... with Jools Holland and as a former member of Squeeze, performed in Hereford as part of a busy run of summer dates.
His Hereford show featured the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra alongside special guest Roachford, guest vocalists including Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, and supporting pianist Joe Webb.
The social media post offered fans a glimpse of the landmarks and local history that caught Holland's eye during his latest visit to Herefordshire.
