Issy said: “I’m so happy that our harbour village where I grew up is more on the map. "And most importantly to me, I’ve been able to bring awareness to my mum’s small business. The power of organic social media for small businesses is incredible.” She highlighted how the video shows the power of social media to bring attention to smaller businesses, with the sweet shop gaining 1,300 followers, more than doubling its follower count, in 24 hours. The sweet shop confirmed that 66 per cent of the viral video's views came from the UK – while the rest came from countries as far as the US, Australia, Germany and India. Many commenters expressed an interest in visiting the old village after seeing the video. But locals warned them not to leave cars parked on Shore Road, as cars are known to get stranded following high tides. The village's unusually high water is associated with spring tides around the full moon, a natural tidal phenomenon that regularly raises the water. They are quite rare, occurring around twice a year.
