A leisure boating business in Powys has been rescued from administration, securing 30 jobs and hundreds of holidays. Beacon Park Boats, based in Llangattock, offers luxury canal boat holidays on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and operates a fleet of more than 20 boats. It had faced financial difficulties due to post-pandemic trading challenges and mounting debt. The company sought support from PKF Littlejohn Advisory in late 2025, who explored options including a Time to Pay arrangement with HMRC and securing additional funding, but none proved viable. Oliver Collinge, partner at PKF Littlejohn’s Leeds office, and Paul Williams, partner and head of advisory in the London office, were appointed as joint administrators. Paul Reeves, partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK LLP, said: "Beacon Park Boats has an incredible heritage and a unique offer to holidaymakers wanting to explore the beautiful Welsh valleys. "While the business had struggled in the years following Covid, its fundamentals were very strong and we had confidence that it could thrive given the opportunity. "Businesses like Beacon Park Boats are all about people, and that was something we kept in mind throughout the process." During a brief period of trading in administration, PKF secured additional funding to keep the company running, and the joint administrators ensured that all summer holiday bookings were honoured. The business was subsequently sold out of administration to Timeout Escapes Limited in August. Mr Reeves praised all parties involved in the process. He said: "It was good to work with the teams at Walker Morris and Gordon Brothers to ensure that the process went smoothly. "It was particularly rewarding to help ensure that workforce was maintained, keeping decades of industrial knowledge in the local area." Walker Morris advised the joint administrators, while Gordon Brothers provided interim funding and valuation advice. PKF Littlejohn has handled several turnarounds in the leisure sector in recent months. The company’s capabilities have been strengthened by the appointment of Shaun Skidmore in July, who brings extensive experience in the hotel, leisure, healthcare, and operational living sectors.
