Маскот Sammy the Shrimp стал чемпионом по сбору средств, несмотря на последнее место в гонке

Southend United mascot Sammy the Shrimp has retained a fundraising title despite finishing last in a charity mascot race. Sammy took part in the annual Epsom Derby mascot race and crossed the finish line in last place after stopping mid-race to show off his best dance moves to the crowd. However, the mascot was also named the highest fundraising participant for the second consecutive year after raising £4,120.25, including Gift Aid, for The Children's Trust. The achievement means Sammy remains the event's fundraising champion and has now helped raise more than £10,000 for charities since January 2025. Sammy the Shrimp added: “To have won back to back highest fundraising mascot is a huge honour. I'm now going for it again to make it three.” "And although I finished last, me and buddy Braintree Boar stopped halfway through the race to have a dance to entertain the crowds."
