Винчестер запустил интерактивный исторический маршрут, посвященный браку Катарини Арагонской и Артура

A royal marriage, an early death and a twist of fate that changed the course of English history forever. These are just some of the stories featured in a new self-guided history trail through Winchester, bringing the city’s past to life. The latest edition of the Winchester Quiz Trail tells the tale of Catherine of Aragon and Arthur, Prince of Wales, both aged 15 when they married in 1501. Arthur, the eldest son of Henry VII and heir to the English throne, died just months later, setting in motion a chain of events that would reshape the Tudor dynasty. The Winchester Quiz Trail & City Souvenir has been created by Quiz Trail CIC in collaboration with Hampshire tour guide Bryan Walsh of Walsh Tours. Liz, Becky and Laura of Quiz Trail CIC said: "We want people to finish this Quiz Trail knowing the stories behind the streets. "Our aim is to make people look up, look down, laugh, learn something and go home with a story they cannot resist telling somebody else." Following Arthur’s death, his younger brother Henry eventually became King Henry VIII and married Catherine. Their marriage and its eventual dissolution led to England’s break with Rome and Henry’s establishment of royal supremacy over the English Church. The 48-page Winchester Quiz Trail & City Souvenir offers a fresh way to explore Winchester, blending elements of history books, guidebooks, tours and souvenirs into a single, interactive experience. It features both adult and junior clues, making it suitable for all ages, and takes participants on a journey through the city’s well-known landmarks as well as its lesser-known corners. The trail promises to uncover curiosities, surprises, and "I never knew that" moments while offering a lasting keepsake of the city. Described as "Bryan’s guided walks in fun self-guided format," the Quiz Trails are designed for couples, families, friends and visitors alike - all for £13.99 per edition. They are intended to be shared, with only one copy needed per group. Each booklet is full-colour and serves as both a city tour and a souvenir, revealing hidden histories and overlooked details. The Winchester edition is part of a series that also includes trails for Portsmouth and Southampton. Quiz Trail CIC is a not-for-profit, community interest company giving history a fun twist!
