Палата молодых предпринимателей Салisbury запускает проект по удержанию молодежи в городе к 800-летию

In 2027, Salisbury will celebrate the 800th anniversary of its Royal Charter. While honouring past and present, Salisbury 800 will also look to the future – imagining what comes next. Established institutions, current leaders and long-written plans will play their part. But Salisbury’s future will also be shaped by upcoming generations and whether they choose to seek their fortunes here or elsewhere. Watching young people leave Salisbury is nothing new. Under new leadership from Luke Cleall, the Salisbury Young Chamber wants to get stuck into an important question: Is Salisbury offering and doing enough for younger people to stay connected, come back and contribute, while still building the lives they want? The Young Chamber has been in place for more than a decade – helping younger members of the Salisbury business community to build peer relationships, connect with experienced leaders, develop confidence and visibility, and establish a stronger local voice. It can also help the wider Chamber and its partners stay connected to the experiences, expectations and ideas of future generations. Like many professional networks, Salisbury Young Chamber lost momentum with Covid while the world of work kept changing. Careers are less linear, work is more dispersed and professional relationships are increasingly digital. Growing numbers of younger people are exploring freelancing, self-employment and entrepreneurship, yet opportunity still depends heavily on relationships that can be difficult to access. For early-career professionals, local business networks may be more important than ever. Should they look and function like they did before? Probably not. Rather than assuming what younger people need, it’s time to listen. The Chamber is inviting them to inform what the Young Chamber becomes (and how) while encouraging established businesses to consider how they can open networks, share experience and create opportunity. It should be shaped with them. Salisbury Chamber has supported and represented local businesses since 1912, helping them connect, grow and contribute to a stronger Salisbury and South Wiltshire.
