Amazon’s support for the Armed Forces community goes beyond fundraising. In 2011, the company launched its Military Programme in the UK to help veterans transition into roles in operations, engineering, logistics, HR, and cloud computing. The company also supports employees who serve as reservists in the UK Armed Forces by offering up to two weeks of paid leave each year for training. Other initiatives include the Military Ambassador Programme, an 18-month, self-paced training and onboarding programme which helps new recruits acclimate to Amazon’s culture and processes. The Military Mentoring Programme provides structured peer support through monthly check-ins, screening, and matching. As one of the first companies to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, Amazon has pledged to treat serving personnel, veterans, and their families fairly. The company also promotes diversity and inclusion through 13 global employee-led affinity groups. These groups help foster a sense of community and promote inclusivity across the business. Among them is Warriors at Amazon, a group dedicated to connecting and empowering the company’s military community through local chapters worldwide. Other groups include the Black Employee Network (BEN), People with Disabilities, and Women at Amazon. The Snowdon challenge is part of Amazon’s ongoing commitment to giving back through volunteerism and workplace fundraising. Help for Heroes supports members of the Armed Forces community with their physical and mental health, welfare and social needs, helping veterans and their families live well after service. The team's fundraising page remains open, with all donations going directly to Help for Heroes.
