В парке Салisbury открыли арт-маршрут с произведениями местных художников и интерактивной картой

A new art trail is bringing creativity and environmental storytelling to a city park. Salisbury River Park now features a series of specially commissioned artworks by local and regional artists, forming a public art trail that celebrates nature and heritage along the River Avon. To help residents and visitors explore the pieces, the Environment Agency has launched the Salisbury River Park Artworks Map. The map highlights the locations and themes of each artwork and offers background on the art and the inspiration behind them. Andy Wallis, project lead for Salisbury River Park at the Environment Agency, said: "The Salisbury River Park has always been about reconnecting people with the rivers that flow through their city, and this artwork trail brings that connection to life in a really tangible way. "Each piece encourages visitors to look more closely at the wildlife and natural heritage found along our chalk streams, from the delicate wings of a mayfly to the otters and kingfishers that call this place home. "We're delighted to see the park's landscape enhanced by such thoughtful and locally rooted creativity." The project was curated by Studio Response in partnership with Salisbury City Council. Featured works include fish-inspired picnic benches by Zac Newham, a mayfly sculpture by Jane Edden, and river-themed murals by Fred Fieber and Tech Moon. Illustrator Francesca McLean contributed natural-world illustrations for interpretation boards and the artworks map. Composer Karen Wimhurst has also created eight short musical pieces inspired by the River Park and the Avon Valley Nature Reserve, which can be heard along the trail. Clare Christopher, creative producer at Studio Response, said: "It's been a privilege to work with such a talented group of artists on this project, each bringing their own distinct voice while responding to the shared themes of nature, community and place that define the River Park. "What feels especially meaningful is how the trail offers a gentle, inviting way for people to experience the artworks, encouraging people to move through the River Park at their own pace, notice the details of the landscape and enjoy the artworks in relation to the river environment around them." The Artworks Map is available now, and more information can be found at salisburycitycouncil.gov.uk/ourcity/salisbury-river-park-art. For younger visitors, Zac Newham has also designed a family-friendly treasure trail that launched alongside the art map. Children can follow clues along the route, learn about the River Park’s wildlife and enter to win a piece of artwork.
