Трилогия о группе пенсионеров, обогнавшей по продажам Битлз, выйдет в этом году

A BOOK about a fictional band that outsold The Beatles is set to be published as the third part of a trilogy. The Dogs, a "crock and roll" group created by former broadcaster and writer Dennis Coath, are the stars of a story about a band of pensioners who reform in their seventies and eighties and achieve unexpected global fame. The trilogy imagines the group surpassing The Beatles’ record sales on their way to the top. Mr Coath was one of the first voices on Radio Cumbria in 1973 and served as the station’s first West Cumbria producer. He later spent 30 years as a presenter and reporter with ITV. Since retiring, Mr Coath has written five books in two years, having completed a master’s in history in his seventies. He began writing the trilogy after finishing his studies. The first book, The Band That Time Forgot, was published in 2024. It was followed by The Band That Time Forgave, with the final instalment, The Band That Turned Back Time, due later this year. The story has drawn comparisons to real-life veteran performers such as The Rolling Stones, The Who, Paul McCartney, and Rod Stewart - artists Mr Coath saw perform in clubs during the 1960s. The trilogy has attracted praise from the media and entertainment industry. BBC Films described it as a "dynamic project," BNN America said it is "turning heads," and De Mode Magazine’s reviewer said "the grin is only just subsiding." Beyond the trilogy, Mr Coath has also published books with sporting legends including cricketer Ian Botham and footballer Peter Shilton. He is the creator of the World’s Biggest Liar Contest, an annual event which is being relaunched this year. Next year, Mr Coath will publish a historical novel offering a fresh perspective on the events of 1066, particularly relevant with the Bayeaux tapestry on display in the UK.
