Брайтон стал самым дорогим городом Великобритании для заправки бензином

A Sussex city has the highest average petrol prices in the UK according to a new study. Brighton has been named as the city where drivers can expect to pay the most for fuel in research carried out by car restoration firm Carrosserie. The seaside destination topped a national ranking that was compiled by comparing prices at every garage within a five-mile radius of the top 20 populated city centres in the UK. Brighton recorded an average of 162.9p per litre for petrol. This is 10.5p more than drivers are paying on average in Belfast, the cheapest city in the study, meaning a 55-litre tank costs £5.77 more to fill on the south coast. Diesel prices in Brighton are also among the highest in the UK, just 0.4p behind Cardiff, the most expensive city for the fuel. The study also showed that within Brighton, petrol prices varied by up to 8p per litre depending on the filling station. Diesel showed an even greater swing of up to 13p per litre, tied for the widest recorded in-city difference. Neil Atkinson, owner of Carrosserie, said: "The most common thing drivers tend to do is fill up at whichever station is closest to them but the data shows that this could be severely costing them. "It is worth taking a minute or two before you set off to look at a trusted price comparison site, as it can genuinely save you money every year."
