Стив Эдж рассказал о дружбе с Питером Кей и сдержанном обещании звезды

Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing star Steve Edge has spoken about being at university with a young Peter Kay - and the promise the star kept. Steve, who played Alan in Phoenix Nights, spoke on Sally Lindsay's podcast A Night with Sally Lindsay, about what Peter Kay was like when he was still at university, along with hilarious stories. "He was the year above me at Salford Uni," said Steve. "When we got there, his year did a big variety show and Peter was the compere, and people would come on and go 'oh we're doing this little sketch.' "And Peter would go 'what were that pile of s****?' "I remember the lecturers going 'Peter, you're not above them, you're on the same course as them.' "But it was funny - it was very funny to see somebody do that." Steve then reflected on his relationship with Peter over the years. "We were mates at university and I remember staying at his house one time and talking about comedy. He put themes from sitcoms on as we went to sleep and do lines from Porridge and stuff. "But I remember one time after he'd left, I did a performance of Midsummer Night's Dream and Peter came to watch it. "He said 'if I ever write a show, I'm going to put you in it, because I think you're good.' "And I thought 'oh, that's lovely' but it doesn't mean anything - he was just a bloke in the year above me who'd just left. He hadn't done anything at this point. "But true to his word, he did, when he did That Peter Kay Thing."
