Парламентарий посетила компанию Foilco, ставшую эталоном ответственного бизнеса в Ливерпуле

A North West company supplying foils to some of the world’s most luxurious brands is setting the standard for business with purpose. Foilco, based in Lowton, was visited by Leigh and Atherton MP Jo Platt to see first-hand how the company combines commercial success with social and environmental responsibility, supplying foils for brands like Gucci and Burberry. The July 27 visit was part of the Better Business Act campaign, which promotes businesses that deliver positive social impact alongside financial results. Jo Platt, Labour MP for Leigh and Atherton, said: “Foilco is a great example of the ideas, talent and determination found here in Leigh and Atherton. “It was fascinating to see the work taking place at its Lowton site and to meet the people behind the business. “Foilco shows how commercial success can go hand in hand with responsible, long-term decision-making. “We need an economy where the benefits of business activity are felt in the places where they are created, through skilled jobs and investment in communities.” Founded in 1987, Foilco employs around 40 people and produces hot stamping, cold, and digital foils for the print, packaging, and label industries. The company became a certified B Corporation (B Corp) in 2023. Paul Hornby, CEO of Foilco, said: “We were delighted to welcome Jo Platt MP to Foilco and show her the people, products, and values behind our business. “We believe commercial success should go hand in hand with treating people well, reducing our environmental impact, and contributing positively to the community around us.” The Better Business Act campaign is calling for an amendment to Section 172 of the Companies Act to give company directors a clearer legal framework to balance the interests of shareholders with those of employees, customers, communities and the environment when making decisions. The campaign is supported by more than 3,000 UK businesses. Foilco’s responsible business initiatives include Living Wage accreditation, ISO 14001 certification, and the ZeroFoil2Landfill scheme, which helps customers prevent used foil from going to landfill. As a B Corp, Foilco is part of a growing global movement of businesses committed to balancing profit with positive impact for people, communities and the environment. Ms Platt said: "That is why I think there is much to commend in the Better Business Act."
