Вход в парк Таттон временно закрыт из-за опасности от оленей перед брачным периодом

TATTON Park has temporarily closed the Knutsford gate entrance amid fears posed by stags ahead of the rutting season. Visitors and people walking dogs are urged to be vigilant. The warning comes almost a year after a grandad was gored by a rutting stag in a savage attack. Ron Savage was hurled up into the air when a fierce stag suddenly charged at him. The 67-year-old suffered a ‘knife-like wound’, two broken ribs and was left battered and bruised. The horrifying assault happened on September 2, last year, just 300 yards inside the Tatton Street entrance. Nicola Grogan, estate team manager at Tatton Park, said: "Tatton Park is reminding visitors to follow guidance on staying safe around the deer herd as a number of mature stags gather in the area around the Knutsford Gate entrance. "The stags are currently displaying pre-rut behaviour as they enter an important bulking phase ahead of the rutting season. “During this period, deer can become more territorial and less predictable, so it is important that visitors keep a safe distance and avoid approaching or disturbing them. "As a precautionary measure, we have temporarily closed the Knutsford Gate entrance. “This location is particularly busy with walkers and cyclists and, given the current deer activity in the area, we believe this is the safest course of action for both visitors and the herd. "Our team is monitoring the situation, and access arrangements will remain under review.” During the autumn season, stags compete for females by roaring and clashing antlers to dominate their rivals. Pumped full of testosterone, these powerful animals weigh over 25 stone and can run at high speeds, making them dangerous and unpredictable due to their hormone levels. People can still walk into Tatton Park through the Dog Wood Gate in Knutsford, while vehicles and cyclists can continue to use the main Rostherne Gate entrance. Ms Grogan said: "We would ask all visitors to respect the deer as wild animals and keep at least 50 metres away at all times. “Visitors should not attempt to photograph, feed or approach them at close quarters, and should follow any guidance provided by staff. "While Knutsford Gate is temporarily closed, Tatton Park remains open and all attractions, activities and events are continuing as planned.” A two-metre high deer fence could be built across Tatton Park to block animals from areas around the southern entrance. An application for planning permission by Cheshire East Council, to Cheshire East Council is being considered. It follows a number of incidents including no fewer than 20 attacks on visitors and visitors’ vehicles over a period of two years. Rod, from Knutsford, was walking through the park on the way for a beer and a curry with a friend when a large stag suddenly appeared and charged at him. “We had just gone through the gate, nowhere near any stags,” he said “Suddenly, one large rogue stag came towards us. “I was punctured on the left side of my stomach. It was a very deep knife-like wound.” Initially, hospital doctors feared the attack could have pierced his organ, liver or spleen. Fortunately, he did not need surgery and was allowed home the following day. Rod warns everyone to be cautious. He said: “I was very very lucky. “We were just two old blokes out for a walk and look what happened. “It’s a beautiful place but you’ve got to be respectful of the warning signs. “This isn’t Bambi, this is a wild animal. “Stick to the road, don’t be looking at your phones, be ultra careful.”
