An 18th-century York hotel has been sold to an investor after being on the market for nearly three years.
The Judges Court Hotel, a Grade II-listed Georgian townhouse with 15 bedrooms, has been acquired by Risebridge Capital.
Initially, in 2023 Knight Franks was marketing the four storey townhouse off Coney Street for more than £3 million.
This year, Christie & Co were marketing the hotel, which opened in 2015, for £2 million.

Moore Kingston Smith advised on the transaction, supporting international hotel investor Lake Merritt Hospitality Holdings in the sale.
The historic property, once used as exclusive accommodation for prominent judges in North Yorkshire, includes among its former guests William Chapple, the judge who convicted the notorious highwayman Dick Turpin.
Anak Bijayendrayodhin, director at Lake Merritt Hospitality Holdings, said: "Moore Kingston Smith provided clear, commercial advice throughout the process, helping us achieve a successful and tax-efficient outcome."
Lake Merritt Hospitality Holdings, which is connected to an overseas investment fund and operates a portfolio of UK hotels, sold Judges Court Hotel as part of its broader strategic objectives in the UK market.
The deal required coordination between legal, tax, and financial advisers due to its complexity.
Moore Kingston Smith, who already had an established relationship with Lake Merritt through audit and tax compliance services, provided both corporate finance and tax advisory support for the sale.
Their work included advising on the transaction structure to enable a tax-efficient exit, offering commercial guidance during negotiations, and reviewing key legal documents.
Andrew Williamson, corporate finance partner at Moore Kingston Smith, said: "This transaction reflects the continued strength of investor appetite for hotel assets, with hotel acquisitions continuing to be a key driver of M&A activity across the hospitality sector.
"Deals like this can involve complex commercial, legal and tax considerations, and it was a pleasure to work closely with Anak and the wider Lake Merritt team to successfully navigate these challenges.
"By bringing together our corporate finance and tax specialists in a seamless, multidisciplinary approach, and maintaining a clear focus on the client’s strategic objectives, we helped deliver an efficient, tax-effective exit and a successful outcome for all parties involved."
