21st annual Savor Sarasota tops $1 million in revenue
The 21st annual Savor Sarasota culinary experience powered by Visit Sarasota County generated over $1 million in restaurant revenue across 68 participating restaurants during a recent 14-day run.
"Savor Sarasota started as a smart solution for the summer slowdown, and 21 years later it has become one of our community's most exciting culinary events," said Erin Duggan, president and CEO of Visit Sarasota County.
Last year, Savor Sarasota event generated more than 1 billion media impressions and $1.2 million in revenue for participating restaurants over 20 days.
Diners throughout Sarasota County participated in the region's premier prix-fixe dining promotion, sitting down for 6,532 lunches and 18,934 dinners, totaling 25,466 meals and $1,015,330 in combined revenue, with 86% of restaurants reporting their guest covers.
Guests enjoyed two-course lunches for $25 and three-course dinners for $45. Many VSC partners added optional wine pairings and specially crafted cocktails. Doctors Hospital names CFO
Maria Caruso, who previously served as chief financial officer for HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital and HCA Florida Pasadena Hospital, has been named chief financial officer of Sarasota Doctors Hospital.
Before joining HCA Healthcare, Caruso held financial leadership roles at Venice Regional Bayfront Health and has strong personal and professional connections to the Sarasota and Manatee county region.
Caruso holds a Master of Business Administration from Argosy University in Nashville, Tennessee, and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Florida.
Fawcett Hospital leader honored
Dr. Cathy Carr, Market Vice President of Quality and Patient Safety for HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital and HCA Florida Englewood Hospital, was recently honored with the 2026 Vice President of Quality & Patient Safety Award.
The award from the HCA Healthcare West Florida Division honors health care leaders who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to improving patient outcomes, strengthening safety practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Throughout her career, Carr has championed initiatives that have enhanced health care across the communities served by Fawcett and Englewood hospitals. Her leadership has helped drive improvements in patient care while promoting collaboration among physicians, nurses and multidisciplinary care teams.
"Quality and patient safety are at the heart of health care," said Philip Marchesini, chief executive officer of Fawcett Hospital. "Dr. Carr's vision, expertise and unwavering commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on our hospitals, our colleagues and, most importantly, our patients. Janelle Duncan has been appointed managing broker of Premier Sotheby's International Realty's Lakewood Ranch office, bringing more than two decades of experience in brokerage leadership, operations management, and luxury residential real estate.
Duncan holds a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist designation and has managed hundreds of residential real estate transactions throughout her career. Before entering real estate, Duncan was involved in accounting, human resources and payroll management.
As managing broker, Duncan will oversee brokerage operations for the Lakewood Ranch office, supporting global real estate advisers through coaching, compliance oversight, professional development and operational leadership.
