According to the Irrigation Department and the district administration, security measures for the project are expected to be completed soon, allowing construction activities to restart. Officials said the construction company working on Jabba Dam had already received a security threat, prompting authorities to take precautionary measures at the project site. Three watchmen associated with the dam have also allegedly disappeared, raising further concerns over the safety of workers and equipment. To avoid further damage or loss, machinery and other equipment being used for the Jabba Dam project have been moved from the site, officials said. Work to resume after security arrangements The Irrigation Department and district administration said construction work will resume very soon once adequate security arrangements have been completed and the situation improves. Officials reiterated that the suspension is temporary and linked to the prevailing security situation rather than any decision to abandon or cancel the project. The provincial government has allocated Rs8 billion for the construction of Jabba Dam, which the Irrigation Department describes as a major public welfare project. Once completed, the dam is expected to benefit residents of Jamrud as well as the people of Peshawar, providing wider benefits to communities in the surrounding areas. The project is also expected to help protect Regi and other areas from flood threats, adding to its importance for local communities and regional flood management. Officials assure early resumption Authorities said construction activities will restart as soon as the security situation improves and the required arrangements are in place. The Irrigation Department and district administration stressed that Jabba Dam remains an important development project, with efforts underway to ensure work can resume safely.
