Дом легендарного тренера Бобби Боудена может перейти в собственность фан-клуба Florida State

The house at the center of Bobby Bowden's Florida State story may soon change hands again, and this time the destination could say as much about legacy as real estate. Reagan Hobbs, the Florida State alumnus and Tallahassee real estate agent who bought the former Killearn Estates home at auction last spring, said Sunday that he is negotiating a deal to sell it to Seminole Boosters, Inc. That matters because the property is not just another attractive home in Tallahassee. Built in 1971, the 4,639-square-foot house sat with the Bowdens for decades after Bobby Bowden and Ann Bowden bought it in January 1976 for $113,500. Bowden lived there until his death in 2021, and the home has remained closely tied to Florida State history and to the era when he coached FSU for 34 seasons. Hobbs said, simply, that he is hopeful about where the discussion is headed. “I'm optimistic,” he said. For a property with this much emotional weight, that is already a meaningful shift. The question is no longer whether the home carries significance. It is whether that significance will remain inside the Seminole community. More than a house in Killearn Estates The Bowden home has always had a value that went beyond square footage. It sits on a 0.57-acre lot and includes four bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms, but those details only tell part of the story. The larger meaning comes from who lived there, when they lived there, and what that era represented for Florida State. The house was part of the Bobby Bowden Legacy Auction, which concluded on March 18. Hobbs purchased it last spring, but the renewed conversation now centers on whether Seminole Boosters, Inc. will become the next owner. If that happens, the property could stay connected to the fan base that built so much of Bowden's legacy in the first place. Tommy Bowden suggested that possibility could have practical and emotional value. “It could be a resource for home games,” he said. “It might mean a lot to all those (fans) coming back.” That is a useful way to think about the home: not as a private trophy, but as a place that could serve a larger Florida State purpose. What the sale would mean Ann Bowden, who has since moved to Alabama to live with family, turns 94 on Monday, Sept. 7. The family context matters here too. Bobby Bowden and Ann Bowden raised six children, and the home remained a central part of that family history long after it became a landmark for fans and former players. There is a clean historical line running through this property. The house was built in 1971. The Bowdens bought it in January 1976. Bobby Bowden went on to win 357 games, two national championships in 1993 and 1999, and build one of the defining programs in Division I football. Now the discussion is about what should happen to the physical space that framed so much of that story. That is why this potential deal feels bigger than a transaction. If Seminole Boosters, Inc. completes the purchase, the house may continue to function as a piece of Bobby Bowden and Florida State memory rather than drifting away from it. In a case like this, ownership is not just about title deeds. It is about whether a landmark stays where the people who care about it can still recognize it.
