The 2026 edition of the LCB Corporate Games is underway, with 16 companies and institutions from Ghana’s port and logistics sector competing in a tournament being held across the Accra and Tema zones. The competition, now in its fifth year, is expected to run for between 12 and 14 weeks, with the leading teams from the two zones advancing to a grand finale to determine the overall winner. The tournament brings together employees of companies operating across Ghana’s ports, shipping, freight and logistics sectors, with teams competing in sporting fixtures while interacting outside their usual professional environment. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) is among the participating institutions and has entered two teams in this year’s competition, representing its Fire Department and Mechanical Department. GPHA has been a regular participant in the corporate games alongside other companies and institutions within Ghana’s port and logistics industry. The competition is organised by LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. Philomena Ocloo, an official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, said the initiative was also intended to increase public awareness of the company and its work, particularly its disinfection services. “It is very necessary for us to give back to the community so as we create awareness of what we literally do. Because most of the times, people don’t know what disinfection is all about, so as we undertake this particular project every particular year, it is a way of letting the society that we happen to be around know that this is what we are into,” she said. She said the annual event enables the company to engage with businesses and other stakeholders while incorporating social activities into its CSR programme. Another official of LCB Worldwide Ghana, Felix Segbaya, said the games had also helped strengthen the company’s relationship with its business partners. “I think at the end of the day, it sends a signal to our business partners that we are not just about business. We’re looking to send a sense of good health and all that, friendliness amongst ourselves. So, in a way, it has brought us together and it has increased the way we do business,” he said. The tournament combines sporting competition with interaction among employees of companies that operate within the same industry, with fixtures being played across Accra and Tema. The overall winner will receive GH₵20,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive GH₵10,000 and GH₵5,000 respectively. The total prize money is GH₵35,000. With the competition already underway, the fixtures in the two zones will determine which teams advance to the grand finale as the fifth edition of the LCB Corporate Games continues.
