Дениз Власис получила мировое рекорд за 40-летнюю карьеру имитатора Мадонны

In 1985, Denise Bella Vlasis was simply a high-school student who happened to be good at singing and dancing. When her mother asked her to entertain children at a holiday party, she decided to perform a few songs by Madonna, whose career was rapidly taking off at the time. What seemed like a small favour became the beginning of a remarkable professional journey. Vlasis soon found herself returning to perform for children, including youngsters in hospitals, gradually becoming known as a Madonna double. Four decades later, the teenager who once borrowed the pop star's songs for a children's party has an officially recognised world record of her own. In May 2025, Guinness World Records verified Vlasis as having the longest career as a Madonna impersonator, spanning 40 years and 119 days. Now, with a memoir and documentary telling her story, her tribute to Madonna has become a record-breaking career in its own right. A children's party unexpectedly launched a lifelong career Vlasis's journey began when her mother asked her to help entertain foster-care children at a holiday party in 1985. A talented singer and dancer who was still in high school, she chose several Madonna songs for the performance. According to Guinness World Records, neither Vlasis nor her family could have known that the appearance would lead to a career lasting more than four decades. She soon became known as the "Madonna girl", performing for children in hospitals and developing an increasingly convincing tribute act. What began as a way to entertain children gradually became professional work. Vlasis discovered that audiences responded strongly to her resemblance, dancing and ability to recreate Madonna's distinctive performances. The teenage performer had unknowingly found the beginning of a profession that would follow her through adulthood. From hospital visits to becoming Madonna's double Vlasis's work expanded well beyond children's performances. Her tribute career eventually took her to stages in places including Las Vegas and Japan, while also opening doors to television, film, voice-over work and other opportunities connected to her resemblance to Madonna. In its January 2026 profile, her career spanned for more than four decades encompassing everything from stage performances to stand-in and decoy roles. Yet Vlasis says becoming Madonna's double also changed her personally. She explained to Guinness World Records that performing as Madonna helped her discover her own identity, strength and courage. The irony was that portraying another woman gave her the confidence to become more comfortable with herself. Madonna's fearless public persona became, for Vlasis, a source of inspiration both onstage and beyond it. In May 2025, she was officially verified as holding the record for the longest career as a Madonna impersonator, with a total of 40 years and 119 days. The milestone recognised something much bigger than simply dressing like a famous singer. Vlasis had continued performing as Madonna through changing fashions, eras and generations of fans. Her act evolved alongside Madonna's own career, from the lace gloves and "Boy Toy" belt associated with the early years to later reinventions of the pop star's image. Guinness World Records reported that Vlasis's career had taken her across different forms of entertainment and around the world. What started with a handful of songs at a children's party had become an extraordinary professional record. Her Madonna tribute is now a memoir and documentary Vlasis is continuing the story rather than simply looking back at it. She had released a memoir titled Dear Madonna: The Journey of Living in the Shadow of the World's Most Famous Star. The book explores the opportunities, experiences and personal lessons that came from spending decades portraying her idol. A documentary with the same title is also being made by her daughter, filmmaker Sofia Vlasis-Gascon. For Vlasis, the tribute has always represented more than imitation. She has spoken about admiring Madonna for refusing to conform to expectations and for encouraging others to find their own voices. After 40 years, that message has become part of Vlasis's own story. The teenager performing Madonna songs for children ultimately built a world-record career while discovering her own identity along the way.
