Школа бизнеса ISB запустила программу PGP MAX для подготовки топ-менеджеров к управлению предприятием

Listen to this article in summarized format The Indian School of Business (ISB) designed the Post Graduate Programme in Management for Senior Executives (PGP MAX) for leaders with 10+ years of work experience, preparing for enterprise and C-suite leadership roles. The 15-month modular programme combines rigorous management learning, leadership development, global perspectives, experiential learning and a diverse senior peer group. Structured across 12 immersive learning weeks over 15 months, including an international immersion, PGP MAX enables participants to continue working while periodically stepping away to learn, reflect and return with a broader perspective. For senior executives, this broader lens is critical: to challenge assumptions, understand the organisation as an interconnected whole and make decisions with impact across businesses, people and markets. From functional expertise to enterprise judgement Technical and functional expertise can take leaders far. Enterprise leadership requires a broader view of how decisions across functions shape organisational outcomes. PGP MAX is structured around eight interconnected cross-functional themes, spanning areas such as sociopolitical economy, innovation and change, leadership and decision-making, and digital business transformation. These themes help participants connect perspectives across strategy, finance, marketing, operations, technology and leadership. Because participants continue working during the programme, they can apply new frameworks and perspectives to live organisational challenges, making the learning immediately relevant. As Sruthi Solipuram, Director of Strategy, Urban Canopi (PGP MAX Co '25), shares, “When I started, my ideas were just a rough sketch. Now, I have structured frameworks that I can apply directly to my business. One of the most impactful courses was Strategies in Digital Economy, which focused entirely on AI and large language models. These technologies are relevant across every aspect of business and career. The curriculum is practical and up-to-date, and you can put what you learn into action immediately." Learning to lead through complexity Senior leaders often make decisions amid uncertainty, competing priorities and incomplete information. PGP MAX builds this capability through case studies, simulations, collaborative learning and intensive discussions. A key component is Leadership Action Week, featuring Build 48, a 48-hour innovation sprint where teams tackle a live business challenge under demanding timelines. These experiences are designed to help participants examine how they think, collaborate and make decisions when the answers are not immediately obvious. Reflecting on this learning approach, Brij Bhushan Chachra, Vice President of Sales, Revenue Management and Distribution, Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited (PGP MAX Co '16), says, "Inside the classroom, the emphasis on strategic thinking through case studies has deeply influenced my approach to problem-solving, enabling me to think critically and strategically in my career. We often collaborated with peers on challenging assignments and projects, leading to late-night study sessions filled with intense discussions, brainstorming, and camaraderie." Developing the leader behind the decisions Enterprise leadership requires more than knowledge. It calls for self-awareness, sound judgement and the ability to lead through uncertainty and change. In PGP MAX, leadership development runs alongside academic learning through a personal leadership development journey and executive coaching, offering opportunities for reflection, personalised feedback and deeper insight into individual leadership approaches. The focus is on helping experienced professionals understand how they lead, question the assumptions shaping their decisions and strengthen the trust, communication and judgement required as their responsibilities expand. Learning from global perspectives Leadership today increasingly spans markets, cultures and interconnected business systems. PGP MAX participants learn from ISB’s resident faculty and visiting faculty from leading institutions worldwide, bringing together globally relevant research, contemporary management thinking and perspectives grounded in business realities in India and beyond. The programme’s international immersion further exposes participants to different business environments, institutions and approaches to leadership. Together, these experiences help senior executives view familiar challenges from new perspectives and develop a broader understanding of how businesses compete, collaborate and create value across markets. A peer network that broadens the leadership lens Some of the most valuable learning in a senior-leadership classroom comes from the people sitting alongside you. PGP MAX brings together experienced professionals from diverse industries, functions and organisations. Each participant brings years of leadership experience, creating a classroom where academic frameworks are enriched by perspectives drawn from real business decisions. A technology leader may view growth differently from a finance professional, while an entrepreneur may approach risk differently from someone leading within a large organisation. These varied perspectives help participants challenge assumptions, understand how other leaders navigate complexity and broaden their own frame of reference. Beyond the cohort, participants become part of the wider ISB alumni community, creating opportunities for continued learning, collaboration, mentorship and connections across industries and geographies long after the programme concludes. Experience is the foundation. Perspective determines what comes next. The transition from functional to enterprise leadership is less about leaving experience behind and more about seeing it differently. As responsibilities grow, leaders must connect strategy with execution, technology with business models, financial decisions with organisational outcomes and short-term performance with long-term value. PGP MAX is designed for this stage of leadership. Through rigorous academics, eight interconnected management themes, experiential learning, executive coaching, international exposure and a senior peer network, the programme helps accomplished professionals broaden their perspective and strengthen the judgement required for enterprise and global leadership. At this stage, the question is no longer how much experience a leader has accumulated, but how effectively that experience translates into perspective, judgement and leadership impact.
