Image credit : Crunchyroll | Link Click Season 3 opens with a forgotten childhood, a dangerous disappearance, and a twist that brings a familiar face back into the story Link Click Season 3 finally returned on August 14, 2026, with its first two episodes releasing together. The new chapter brings back Su Shangqing as Cheng Xiaoshi, Yang Tianxiang as Lu Guang and Li Shimeng as Qiao Ling, and wastes little time throwing viewers into another timeline mystery. The premiere reveals that Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi knew each other long before their university days, while Episode 2 shifts towards Xia Fei's disappearance. By the end, a familiar face from the earlier story makes a surprise appearance, leaving fans with even more questions about memory, fate and the timeline. The first episode takes viewers back to 2007, when Lu Guang is still a child. It is easily one of the most revealing parts of the premiere because the calm, controlled Lu Guang fans know is nowhere to be seen. His ability to look into the past through photographs is already being used by his adoptive father. Instead of protecting the boy, he treats Lu Guang's power as a tool, forcing him to collect information and punishing him when the results are not good enough. That makes Lu Guang's eventual friendship with Cheng Xiaoshi feel even more important. Cheng Xiaoshi is warm, curious and completely different from the people Lu Guang has grown up around. For perhaps the first time, Lu Guang has someone who simply wants to spend time with him. The childhood scenes reveal that Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang actually meet at a railway station years before the events viewers previously considered the beginning of their friendship. Their bond slowly develops, with Cheng Xiaoshi even wanting to help Lu Guang discover the truth about his biological parents. But then something changes. Cheng Xiaoshi stops coming to the station, leaving Lu Guang waiting for a friend who never returns. When the two eventually meet again at Hui Jie Movie Academy, the introduction is almost funny. A basketball hits Lu Guang in the face, and Cheng Xiaoshi treats him like a complete stranger. Except Lu Guang knows exactly who he is. The fact that Cheng Xiaoshi has forgotten their entire childhood friendship is easily the premiere's biggest mystery. The show does not confirm whether his memory was erased, altered or affected by another change in the timeline. Those explanations remain theories for now. There is another detail in the railway station sequence that has already sent fans into theory mode. A figure resembling an adult Cheng Xiaoshi can apparently be seen in the background while young Lu Guang is there. The scene is deliberately brief, and the anime has not explained what viewers are supposed to make of it. If that really is Cheng Xiaoshi, however, the implications are enormous because it could mean the present and past are already crossing over in ways the characters do not understand. That fits perfectly with Link Click's habit of turning seemingly simple photographs into much bigger timeline problems. Episode 2 moves away from Lu Guang's childhood and brings the focus to Xia Fei, whose disappearance pulls the Time Photo Studio into another dangerous case. Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang begin following clues and investigating what happened to him. The case takes them into an uncomfortable situation involving Xia Fei's work as a host, with the episode showing how easily people around him can exploit him. Cheng Xiaoshi naturally brings some much needed comic relief to the situation, but the comedy does not hide how disturbing the circumstances are. What begins as a disappearance soon starts looking like another piece of a much bigger puzzle. And then comes the moment that made Episode 2 explode. Li Tianchen appears. The reveal is deliberately saved for the end, making it clear that the new Xia Fei mystery is not happening in isolation. Li Tianchen's return immediately connects the new storyline to the conflicts surrounding the previous arc and raises questions about whether other familiar players, including Liu Xiao, could also become involved. Season 3's larger story is also beginning to bring several apparently separate mysteries together. Xia Fei's disappearance sits alongside the Bahati fire, Vein's return, Qiao Ling's developing abilities and Cheng Xiaoshi's parents, Cheng Weimin and Shao Yuanyuan. The opening episodes do not explain how all these pieces fit together yet. Instead, they establish the characters and mysteries that will eventually collide. That is particularly interesting because the story is now digging deeper into Cheng Xiaoshi's family history while also showing that Lu Guang has secrets of his own. After two episodes, this remains the question sitting above everything else. Lu Guang remembers meeting Cheng Xiaoshi as a child. Cheng Xiaoshi does not remember him at all. Somewhere between their childhood friendship and their later meeting, something happened that changed what Cheng Xiaoshi knew. Some fans are already theorising about memory manipulation and changes to the timeline, especially because parts of the new flashback appear to complicate what viewers previously understood about the characters' history. Those theories are interesting, but the anime has not confirmed them yet. For now, Link Click has given us just enough information to know that Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi's story started much earlier than anyone realised. And considering everything Lu Guang has already done to change fate, that forgotten childhood could turn out to be one of the most important pieces of the entire series. The premiere does not really give viewers one big answer. Instead, it quietly rearranges the entire board. We now know that Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi were childhood friends, that Cheng Xiaoshi somehow lost those memories, and that Xia Fei's disappearance is pulling the Time Photo Studio towards another dangerous conspiracy. Then Li Tianchen's return makes it clear that the past is not finished with them yet. The biggest question is no longer simply where Xia Fei went. It is what happened between Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi before they became the partners we know today. And knowing Link Click, the answer is probably going to make the timeline even more painful. Link Click Season 3 is available to stream on Crunchyroll, including in India. Current streaming listings also show Season 3 on Crunchyroll's Amazon Channel, while the series is available through Bilibili in relevant territories.
