В Чандигархе автоматизированная система за неделю обработала 1800 дел по перерегистрации недвижимости

- Technology - 1 min read Auto-mutation system clears 1,800 property cases in a week in Chandigarh The new auto-mutation system in Chandigarh has revolutionized the way property mutations are processed, completing almost all cases seamlessly. With no need for applicants to visit the estate office in person, this digital approach streamlines transactions electronically post-registration. As a result, property records are updated quicker, minimizing delays while also promoting transparency and focusing on citizen engagement in property management. CHANDIGARH: Nearly 1,800 of the 1,829 property mutation cases received by the Chandigarh estate office since the launch of its auto-mutation system have been processed within seven days, with applicants not required to make a single physical visit. Introduced on July 7, 2025, the system has replaced the conventional application-based process with an automatic, paperless and faceless mechanism. Under the new system, once a property deed is registered at the sub-registrar office, transaction data is transmitted electronically to the estate office. Mutation is then processed digitally at the backend, eliminating the need for property owners to file separate applications, resubmit documents or visit the estate office. Of the 1,829 cases received since the system was launched, around 1,800 have already been processed, while the remaining 29 are being handled within the prescribed timelines. “The system provides defined timelines for mutation: two working days for leasehold properties and seven working days for freehold properties. Applicants can also track the status through SMS alerts,” a UT spokesperson said. Officials said the reform has reduced paperwork and dependence on agents and middlemen by eliminating repeated document submissions and physical interaction with the estate office. They added that the system has significantly cut procedural delays and administrative discretion while ensuring faster updation of property records. The Chandigarh administration described the initiative as a major e-governance reform aimed at improving ease of living, transparency and citizen-centric property administration through technology-driven, faceless services.
