Engel Austria GmbH has entered into a strategic partnership with French injection molding machine manufacturer Billion SAS that establishes Billion as the central service provider for existing machines while positioning Engel as the recommended supplier for new equipment purchases. The collaboration, which takes effect immediately, aims to provide Billion customers with continuity in local service while offering access to innovative injection molding solutions and Engel’s global resources. Billion will remain an independent company and will take care of presses already in the field, while Engel will supply new machinery as processors replace equipment or add capacity. “For existing customers, day-to-day business will change very little – yet something important has shifted behind the scenes,” Engel officials said in an Aug. 31 statement. “Billion will continue to handle its own service operations exactly as before and remains the first point of contact. What is new, however, is that Billion customers can now count on the backing of Engel, [which has] a global sales and service network as well as global manufacturing and supply chain capabilities.” The partnership will become visible at Billion’s Tech Centre, where customers will soon be able to see and experience Engel solutions firsthand. In addition to its existing sales office in Wissous, in northern France, the partnership gives Engel access to Billion’s facilities, bringing the company closer to one of the plastics industry’s key regions and allowing both teams to strengthen customer relationships. According to the statement, the transition should be relatively straightforward because of similarities between their machine concepts, allowing Billion customers to use their familiar tooling on Engel machines. “We’re delighted about this partnership with Billion,” said Stefan Engleder, CEO of the Engel Group. “We want [Billion’s customers] to feel they’re in good hands with us — we understand them, and thanks to this partnership, we now speak their language too, standing by them as a strong partner.”
